Joop Hartog (1946) is emeritus hoogleraar economie aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam. Hij is gespecialiseerd in arbeidseconomie en publiceerde, alleen of met co-auteurs, een tiental boeken, meer dan honderd artikelen in internationale tijdschriften en ruim honderd bijdragen aan boeken en tijdschriften in het Nederlands. Samen met Jules Theeuwes richtte hij het tijdschrift Labour Economics op en hij schreef columns voor Nederlandse kranten gedurende meer dan 15 jaar. Hij was lid van diverse adviescommissies voor de overheid, waaronder de Raad van Economische Adviseurs. Hij was gastonderzoeker bij diverse instellingen, waaronder Stanford, de Wereld Bank, Peking University en Harvard. In 2001 werd hij benoemd als lid van Koninklijke Nederlandse Akademie van Wetenschappen KNAW. In 2011 ging hij met emeritaat, maar hij is nog steeds actief als onderzoeker.
Joop Hartog (1946) is emeritus professor of economics at the University of Amsterdam. He is specialised in labour economics, and published, alone or with co-authors, some ten books, some hundred articles in international journals and over a hundred contributions to books and journals in Dutch. With Jules Theeuwes, he founded the journal Labour Economics and for almost 15 years wrote columns for Dutch newspapers. He was a member of several government advisory committees, including the short-lived Council of Economic Advisors. He held visiting positions in many places, including Stanford, the World Bank, Peking University and Harvard. In 2001, he was appointed as a member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Sciences KNAW. He retired in 2011, but still actively continues research and other academic work.
